about

INNERWESTLIFE were a group of inner west parents of diverse musical pedigrees who initially came together for a Kegworth Public School fundraising event in August 2006. In November 2007 they won the inaugural Newtown Festival Public Schools Parent Band Competition, first paid gig was the New South Wales Public Defenders Xmas party in December that year, and, in September 2008 they hit the stage at the Sydney Region Music Festival at the Sydney Opera House before an audience of a couple thousand enthusiastic under 12s.

Although most of their kids have since graduated to high school, the band has played on. In mid 2010 they celebrated their longevity in the recording studio- the resultant cd of original songs (one written in the bowels of the Opera House), together with live performances by various student ensembles recorded at the 2010 Kegworth Music Night, is released in April 2011- all proceeds will be donated in support of the school’s music program.

A highlight of the cd is an AC/DC inspired arrangement of “There Ain’t No Bugs on Me” featuring backing vocals from a group of talented Kegworth 2010 year 6 students & a stand-out solo vocal from the youngest of the Bruce clan, Claire.
